Twinkle Toes Dance Academy – Program Information

About Us
Twinkle Toes Dance Academy is a Christian-based mobile dance program serving schools throughout the Hanover, Virginia area. Our mission is to make high-quality dance education convenient and accessible by bringing ballet and tap classes directly to your child’s school.

At Twinkle Toes, we believe dance is about so much more than learning steps. Our classes help children build confidence, creativity, coordination, and a love of movement in a fun, encouraging environment where every child feels supported and celebrated.

As a Christian-based program, we incorporate uplifting worship music throughout many of our classes and strive to create an atmosphere that reflects kindness, encouragement, gratitude, and joy. We believe movement can be a beautiful way for children to express themselves while celebrating the unique gifts God has given them.

In addition to ballet and tap instruction, we’re proud to incorporate our Twinkle Toes Foundations of Movement program into every class. Through age-appropriate strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination activities, children build the physical foundation needed to move with strength, confidence, and purpose both in and out of dance class. These movement skills support healthy growth, improve body awareness, and help children develop lifelong habits that encourage an active, healthy lifestyle.

Our classes are thoughtfully designed to help children grow physically, socially, emotionally, and creatively while having fun. We encourage teamwork, perseverance, self-confidence, and a strong technical foundation in dance, all within a positive, nurturing environment.

By bringing classes directly to local schools, we eliminate the need for additional after-school transportation, making it easier for busy families while giving children the opportunity to learn, move, and grow alongside their classmates.

At Twinkle Toes Dance Academy, our goal is to help every child build a strong foundation for movement while discovering the joy of dance, growing in confidence, and using the gifts God has given them.

Class Structure
Each 45-minute class is divided into two segments- half ballet & half tap.

Preschool Ballet, Tap, & Creative Movement (Ages 3–5)

Our youngest dancers are introduced to the joy of movement through ballet, tap, and creative movement in a fun, encouraging environment. Using music, imagination, and age-appropriate activities, children develop coordination, balance, rhythm, listening skills, confidence, and a love for dance while learning foundational ballet and tap techniques.

Every class also includes:

✨ Movement with Purpose activities that teach confidence, kindness, teamwork, and perseverance.

🤸 Age-appropriate flexibility training to improve mobility and body awareness.

💪 Fun strength and coordination exercises that build the foundation for healthy movement in dance, sports, and everyday life.

    Dance Fusion (Ages 6–10)

We’re so excited to introduce our newly redesigned Dance Fusion class for ages 6–11 at Twinkle Toes Dance Academy!

As dancers grow, so do their interests and abilities. That’s why we’ve created Dance Fusion, a well-rounded program that combines ballet, tap, contemporary worship, and hip hop throughout the season. Dancers will have the opportunity to explore a variety of dance styles while continuing to build a strong technical foundation.

By experiencing multiple styles, dancers can discover what they enjoy most while developing the versatility, confidence, and technique that will support them wherever their dance journey leads.

Our season is structured to help dancers grow step by step:

    🩰 September–October | Ballet & Tap Foundations

Build a strong foundation in ballet technique, posture, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
Learn tap fundamentals while developing rhythm, timing, and musicality.

    🤍 November–December | Contemporary Worship & Ballet

    Continue strengthening ballet technique.
Explore expressive movement, musicality, and worship-inspired choreography through contemporary dance.

    🎵 January–May | Performance Season

Beginning in January, dancers will start learning recital choreography in one featured dance style, which may be ballet, tap, contemporary worship, or hip hop.
Throughout the performance season, dancers will also be introduced to hip hop fundamentals, rhythm, musicality, and age-appropriate choreography while continuing to build their ballet technique each week.
Every 45-minute Dance Fusion class also includes:

✨ Movement with Purpose character lessons

    🤸 Age-appropriate flexibility training

💪 Fun strength and conditioning exercises designed specifically for young dancers to improve coordination, balance, stability, and build a strong foundation for dance, sports, and everyday movement.

Our goal is to give every dancer a strong technical foundation and a love for dance that lasts beyond Twinkle Toes. As dancers grow and eventually graduate from our program, they’ll have the confidence, technique, and versatility to transition into a traditional dance studio, a school dance team, musical theater, or wherever their dance journey leads them.

Perfect for New & Returning Dancers
Our program is ideal for preschool-aged dancers and also a great fit for older children (ages 6–11) who may not have had formal dance training. This class provides a strong foundation in ballet and tap for those who want to explore dance further or transition into their forever studio after graduating our program. It’s never too late to start!

    Spring Recital
All dancers will have the opportunity to participate in our Spring Recital in May to celebrate and showcase what they’ve learned. Costume and performance details will be sent out in the spring.

    What to Bring
Please ensure your child is prepared for dance class by packing the following in a labeled dance bag:

    • A leotard (any color)
    • Ballet shoes (preferably pink or black)
    • Tap shoes
    • Hair pulled back and comfortable clothing if not changing into a leotard
All items should be clearly labeled with your child’s name.
They should bring their dance bag with them to school on their dance day.

    Class Observations:

We do not send out formal progress reports for dance class, but families are always welcome to quietly observe. If you choose to watch a class, we kindly ask that you do so discreetly—through a window or open doorway—and avoid letting your child know you are present until after class has ended.

Through experience, we’ve found that when parents are visible during class, it can become distracting—not only for their own child, but for the entire group. To ensure each dancer stays focused and is able to participate fully, we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
