Twinkle Toes Dance Academy – Program Information

About Us
Twinkle Toes Dance Academy is a mobile dance company that brings high-quality dance education directly to preschools, private schools, and childcare centers. Our mission is to make dance accessible, fun, and foundational—without the need for parents to manage transportation or busy after-school schedules.

Class Structure
Each 45-minute class is divided into two segments- half ballet & half tap.

Preschool Ballet & Tap (Ages 3–5)
Our preschool classes introduce children to the joy of dance through the Once Upon a Ballet curriculum—a nationally recognized, story-based program created specifically for young dancers.

  • Ballet: Students learn posture, simple arm and foot positions, and movements like pliés, tendus, and small jumps, taught through imaginative stories and music.
  • Tap: Dancers explore rhythm and sound with basic tap steps such as toe and heel taps, shuffles, and simple patterns, building coordination and timing.
  • Focus: Building confidence, musicality, and a love for movement in a playful, encouraging environment.

Elementary Ballet & Tap (Ages 6–10)
These classes continue with the Once Upon a Ballet curriculum, providing a strong foundation in both ballet and tap while fostering artistry and technique.

  • Ballet: Students progress to all five positions, proper alignment, and structured barre and center work, including chassés, balances, arabesques, and small jumps.
  • Tap: Dancers advance to combinations like ball change, cramp rolls, shuffle-hop-steps, and traveling tap patterns, with an emphasis on clear sounds and musical precision.
  • Focus: Developing strength, flexibility, coordination, and performance skills in a supportive, confidence-building setting.

Why Once Upon a Ballet?
At Twinkle Toes Dance Academy, we believe children deserve a dance program that is both engaging and educational. That’s why we’ve partnered with Once Upon a Ballet, a nationally recognized curriculum that combines imaginative storytelling with age-appropriate technique. This approach keeps dancers excited about learning while ensuring they develop the proper foundation in ballet and tap from the very beginning. Parents love that it’s creative, structured, and designed specifically for their child’s stage of development—and kids love that every class feels like an adventure!

Perfect for New & Returning Dancers
Our program is ideal for preschool-aged dancers and also a great fit for older children (ages 6–10) who may not have had formal dance training. This class provides a strong foundation in ballet and tap for those who want to explore dance further or eventually transition into their forever studio. It’s never too late to start!

Spring Recital
All dancers will have the opportunity to participate in our Spring Recital in May to celebrate and showcase what they’ve learned. Costume and performance details will be sent out in the spring.

What to Bring
Please ensure your child is prepared for dance class by packing the following in a labeled dance bag:

  • A leotard (any color)
  • Ballet shoes
  • Tap shoes
  • Hair pulled back and comfortable clothing if not changing into a leotard
All items should be clearly labeled with your child’s name.
They should bring their dance bag with them to school on their dance day.

Class Observations:

We do not send out formal progress reports for dance class, but families are always welcome to quietly observe. If you choose to watch a class, we kindly ask that you do so discreetly—through a window or open doorway—and avoid letting your child know you are present until after class has ended.

Through experience, we’ve found that when parents are visible during class, it can become distracting—not only for their own child, but for the entire group. To ensure each dancer stays focused and is able to participate fully, we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
